FDA advisers endorse gene therapy to treat form of blindness

Hot on the heels of my post about the first genetic therapy being approved in the US, we have another one moving through the approval process. Gene therapies are on a path to be a normal (personalised) component of health care.

In this case, federal health advisors have endorsed a therapy that cures a particular form of inherited blindness.

“Doctors deliver the therapy with an injection in each eye that inserts a replacement gene into the retina via a modified virus.”
