Vertical farming gains pace

Vertical farming continues to gain pace and it’s pretty interesting. Find a large disused space in an urban area – it could be underground or a skyscraper – and fill it with layers upon layers of mostly-automated vegetable production.

There’s plenty of carbon in the cities. Instead of sunlight, it turns out that specifically-tuned LEDs can provide a better photosynthesis wavelength than our sun. LED tech and (to some degree) renewables finally makes this economical.

This may well be the future of agriculture over the longer term. I have been holding the domain ‘’ in anticipation.
