Here’s a bit of news that might signal a change in the way we’ll use our phones.
Qualcomm has worked with Microsoft to provide full Windows 10 emulation on their new Snapdragon 835 (phone/tablet) processor. We can expect to see a significant number of phones that enable a seamless transition between handheld device and work / home desktop – a full Windows 10 experience anywhere. It may well drive a market shift towards Microsoft phones or indeed could start challenging laptops at work.
Qualcomm have suitably included new AR/VR support as well. We should see a solid progression of phone-based VR. It’s fairly likely that the first truly mass market VR capability will leverage phone hardware, despite dedicated platforms providing a stronger experience.
